Quantum Victoria has been a long term client of ours, and we have worked with them for many years on both their public-facing website as well as their purpose-built and bespoke learning management system for STEM-base programs.
As the educational landscape evolved - particularly during and after the pandemic - so too did the requirements for Quantum Victoria’s program delivery. We worked closely with the Quantum Victoria team to design and develop a new portal to see them in to the future with flexibility and extensibility at its core.
The Quantum Victoria portal is a feature-rich business and learning management platform made up of three unique areas:
The Admin Portal enables the Quantum Victoria team to build programs, tests and quizzes online, make and manage bookings for schools, and generate rich and meaningful data-driven reports in real time.
The Teacher Portal allows the Teachers of schools to manage their bookings, and gain live insights in to their students’ learning and progress through program content.
The Learners Portal gives Students access to the program materials, view (and re-view) the content, and complete tests, quizzes and surveys.
We chose Laravel and Inertia.js as the development stack to provide a streamlined, interactive interface, and take advantage of Laravel's authentication, authorisation and validation features.
Originally built for online-only delivery, the pandemic saw a dramatic shift in requirements, with the new platform capable of delivering program content for different delivery methods including online, on-site, remotely, or with their own teacher in their classroom. Extensibility was a key consideration from the outset, not only for the delivery modes but also for question types, booking requirements and the expansion of real-time data access.
The Admin Portal is now the central hub of the educational and admin team. It allows educational content to be authored and tested, while also enabling bookings that adhere to strict business rules around equipment, space availability, and room configurations. The system automates reminders and follow-ups to schools, significantly reducing manual admin tasks and streamlining the booking process.
Once a booking is confirmed, teachers can manage it via the Teacher Portal, including uploading class lists and providing additional student information such as year level or requirement for additional assistance. For off-site sessions, printable collateral is generated to help distribute student access details. As students progress through the program - whether on-site, online, or remote - teachers can track student engagement in real time, helping identify and address learning challenges promptly.

In the Learner Portal, we’ve worked closely with the Quantum Victoria team to ensure students receive relevant, subject-specific content, including material in maths and chemistry. Beyond standard question types (such as short and long answer text, single choice and multiple choice), we developed custom plugins for TinyMCE, enabling content authors to include MathML and chemistry notations seamlessly. For more advanced content, we implemented iframe window messaging protocols, allowing program creators to integrate their own hosted applications and have results passed back into the portal for assessment.
This has been a truly rewarding project - one we’re proud to continue developing in partnership with Quantum Victoria. We’re excited about expanding the platform’s capabilities further to enhance both administrative workflows and student learning experiences.
