Clients are loving Statamic’s content authoring experience

When we launch a new website for a client, one of the first things we often hear is just how much they enjoy using Statamic. For many it feels like a breath of fresh air compared to older, clunky platforms that either lock them into a rigid layout or gave them too much scope and leave their pages looking messy.

That sweet spot in between is what’s known as “supervised creativity” - a term I first saw posted by Clément Arzoumanian on LinkedIn - and it sums up Statamic perfectly!

What is supervised creativity?

Supervised creativity is all about giving clients the ability to be creative with their content, while making sure the site’s overall design and branding stay intact. Think of it like having a set of building blocks. You can arrange them however you like, but every block has been designed to match the brand and layout of your site.

It’s freedom, but with guardrails (or training wheels). And our clients love it.

Why they’re loving it

Here’s what we’ve noticed:

  • Freedom with confidence: Clients can experiment with layouts, knowing they won’t break the design.

  • On-brand every time: Because the building blocks are styled by us, the site always looks polished and professional.

  • Ease of use: Statamic’s clean, straightforward interface means authors can focus on their message, not on fighting with the CMS.

  • Empowerment: Even without technical skills, clients can build unique and engaging pages that feel like they were made for their campaign.

Real-world example

One of our clients recently built a landing page for a new program. Instead of being forced into a one-size-fits-all template, they used hero banners, testimonials, images, and call-to-action blocks in an order that made sense for their content.

The result looked like a custom-designed page (just like all our sites), but all they did was drag and drop the blocks we’d already created for them. They got the creativity they wanted, and we knew the site would stay consistent with their brand.

Why we love it too

From our side, supervised creative saves a lot of headaches. Clients don’t need to call us every time they want to change a layout, and we don’t need to worry about them going off-brand.

Statamic’s approach, underpinned by our Mity skills and supervised creativity, gives clients the best of both worlds: freedom to be creative, and confidence that everything they publish will look great and stay on brand. And for us, that means happier clients who love managing their own content.
